James Thompson

James Thompson is senior vice president, division manager, Asia Pacific. He is based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

As division manager, Thompson is responsible for operations and strategic direction across the Asia Pacific region, including underwriting, client service and engineering.

Prior to this appointment, Thompson held numerous sales, underwriting and engineering leadership roles at FM Global, including vice president, global sales, Asia Pacific; vice president, manager of underwriting and global services, Asia Pacific; and division underwriting manager for the broader territory of Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.

Earlier roles at FM Global include client service manager for FM Global’s Australian operations in Melbourne and manager of engineering of natural hazards for the staff engineering group in Johnston, Rhode Island, USA. Thompson joined FM Global in 1993 as a field engineer.

Thompson earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and a master’s degree in environmental engineering, both from the University of Melbourne. He is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
