FM Global Jumps More Than 200 Spots to #545 on FORTUNE Magazine’s List of America’s Largest Companies

JOHNSTON, R.I., USA—FM Global, one of the world’s largest commercial property insurers, has jumped to No. 545 on FORTUNE magazine’s list of America’s 1,000 largest companies, published in the magazine’s May 3, 2010 edition. The ranking is based on
FM Global’s fiscal year 2009 financial performance and represents a rise of more than 220 spots from the company’s prior year’s rank at No. 766. FM Global is the 17th longest-standing company among the FORTUNE 1000 and is commemorating its 175th anniversary in 2010.

In 2009, FM Global’s gross premium in force grew by 5.6 percent to US$4.7 billion and net income was US$840 million. Policyholder surplus grew 35 percent to US$6.3 billion and the company posted a profitable combined ratio of 69.6 percent.
