April 28, 2009 Commercial Property Insurer FM Global Announces Caterpillar Group President Edward J. Rapp is elected to its Board of DirectorsJOHNSTON, R.I.—FM Global, one of the world’s largest business property insurers, has announced that Edward J. Rapp, group president of Caterpillar, Inc, has been elected to its board of directors. Caterpillar, Inc is a world-leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines and industrial gas turbines. Rapp joins FM Global’s 12-member board, which comprises executives from the world’s most influential companies. FM Global is a mutual insurance company owned and directed by its policyholders. It takes an uncommon approach to insurance—helping more than one of every three FORTUNE 1000 companies, and similar size organizations worldwide, better understand their property threats and helping them protect their business operations from such perils. “Mr. Rapp brings an extensive international and marketing background to FM Global’s board,” said Shivan S. Subramaniam, chairman and chief executive officer, FM Global. “We appreciate his commitment to FM Global’s continued success and look forward to his valuable leadership, wisdom and contributions.” Since joining Caterpillar as a pricing analyst in 1979, Rapp has held positions related to pricing, production scheduling, marketing, dealer development, manufacturing and product development. In 1987, he transferred to the North American Commercial Division where he held positions in Planning Support and as district manager of the San Francisco district. He later transferred to Johannesburg, South Africa as area manager and then on to Geneva, Switzerland where he was the department manager in Building Construction Products, and Europe Region Manager.
