Central Station Placarding
Central station companies provide around-the-clock alarm signal monitoring and reporting. They also provide the installation, testing and maintenance of the signaling equipment installed at the protected properties. FM Approvals has worked with the fire alarm industry to develop the following Approval categories consistent with NFPA 72. "The National Fire Alarm Code" requirements include:
- Central Station Company (Full Service)
- Fire Alarm Service (Local Company)
- Central Station Company (Monitoring Only)
Please refer to FM Approval Standard 3011 "Central Station Service for Fire Alarms and Protective Equipment Supervision" for more specific information on listing requirements.
Standard 3011 is largely derived from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard 72 and encompasses several major areas of Central Station operation.
- CS Facilities
- Equipment (monitoring and receiving)
- Runner Service
- Central Station Personnel/Mgmt. Oversight
- Installation
- Testing and Maintenance @ PP
- Record Keeping
