Shivan S. Subramaniam
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
As chairman and chief executive officer, Shivan S. Subramaniam is responsible for strategic and operational direction at FM Global, one of the world's leading commercial and industrial property insurers.
Named chairman in 2002, Subramaniam was elected president and CEO in 1999. Prior to that, he was chairman and CEO at Allendale Insurance, a predecessor company of
FM Global. Elected president of Allendale in 1992, he held a number of senior-level positions in finance and management after joining the company in 1974.
Subramaniam received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology, Pilani, India, and has since earned two master's degrees—one in operations research from Polytechnic University, Brooklyn, N.Y., USA, and another in management from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, Mass., USA.

Vice Chairman
As vice chairman of the board of directors of FM Global, Ruud H. Bosman has overall responsibility for all of FM Global’s operations, engineering, underwriting, marketing and claims activities around the world. He is based in the company’s corporate offices in Johnston, R.I., USA.
Bosman was appointed to his current position in 2009. He has dedicated his entire career to serving FM Global, having worked for the company since 1971. In addition to his current role, he has held a number of other senior level positions, including executive vice president; chairman and managing director of the company’s international operations; senior vice president, division manager; and vice president and manager of the company’s New York operations.
Bosman holds a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Delft,
The Netherlands, and completed the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School.
Jonathan W. Hall
Executive Vice President
Jonathan W. Hall is an executive vice president with FM Global. With overall responsibility for various divisions within the organization, including claims, engineering and research, marketing and training, and underwriting and reinsurance, Hall is based in the FM Global corporate offices in Johnston, R.I., USA.
Hall has dedicated more than a quarter century to serving FM Global. Appointed to his current position in 2009, he was formerly senior vice president, underwriting and reinsurance and, prior to that, senior vice president, manager, Eastern division, with responsibilities for overseeing all client relations, underwriting, engineering, processing and administration for the division, as well as overseeing FM Global’s chemical operations worldwide.
Hall holds a bachelor of science degree in management from Plymouth State College, Plymouth, N.H., USA. He also has completed the Advanced Executive Education Program at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pa., USA.

Executive Vice President
Thomas A. Lawson is an executive vice president with FM Global, based in the corporate offices in Johnston, R.I., USA. In this role, he manages FM Global’s North and South America insurance operations.
Elected to his current position in 2009, Lawson is a recognized expert in industrial manufacturing risks. For more than 30 years, he has built a career that has included key posts in the forest products industry and the furniture and textile segment of the company’s business. During this time, he has served in a variety of managerial positions at FM Global, including senior vice president, engineering and research; senior vice president, research and approvals; vice president, operations manager – forest products; field vice president and operations underwriting manager; regional engineering manager; and operations manager. He joined FM Global in 1979.
Lawson is a graduate of Illinois State University, Normal, Ill., USA, where he received a bachelor’s degree in occupational safety. He is a member of the National Fire Protection Association, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Industrial Research Institute.
