Who is eligible?
Any organization or agency around the world that supports fire prevention can apply for an FM Global Fire Prevention Grant; however, funds must be used for public purposes. Additional terms and conditions may apply for applicants based in the United States, Canada and other countries.
What can I apply for?
Funding requests will be considered to help support organizations working to combat fire for a wide array of fire prevention, preparedness and control efforts. Some examples are provided in each category below to use as a guide:
What are the qualities of the most successful applications?
Applications that clearly demonstrate a need for funding that will have a significant impact on preventing commercial and industrial fire loss are acceptable. It is also important to provide plenty of detail and documentation in your application to support your request.
Where is the application?
After submitting your online request, a message will appear that confirms the receipt of your information. The application will then become available, which must be downloaded by clicking on the provided link and choosing "Save As" from the "File" menu. Please fill out all fields within the application and mail back to the address provided below.
When is the deadline for submitting my application?
There is no deadline for submission; however, grant applications are reviewed quarterly.
When can I reapply for funding if I’ve received a grant award in the past?
For past awards, grant recipients may reapply for funding three years from the date of their initial award letter. For applications that did not result in a grant award, applicants may reapply for funding one year from the date of their notification letter.
How much should I apply for?
Although there is no limit on how much funding you can apply for, this grant program is designed to provide seed money to help support your fire prevention, preparedness and control efforts. Larger funding requests like salaries, motor-powered vehicles (fire apparatus, automobiles) and building projects, for example, will not be considered.
How are decisions made about my grant?
All grant applications are reviewed by a committee consisting of a diverse group of FM Global property loss prevention experts and members of the public fire service community to ensure funding is awarded where it will make the most difference.
